Auroras

Auroras is a fine art project by Alex Wides, dedicated to exploring one of nature’s most extraordinary phenomena through the language of extreme panoramic photography. The collection is the result of years of work in the polar regions, where the artist lived and photographed in complete isolation among frozen lakes, fjords, and mountain ranges illuminated by the aurora borealis. Beyond photography, Alex Wides has conducted personal research into geomagnetism and the chemical processes that generate auroras, allowing him to anticipate some of the most powerful solar storms in recent years. This scientific understanding, combined with his artistic vision, enabled him to be present at the right moment, under the most intense displays of polar light. Each panorama in the series represents a synthesis of endurance, knowledge, and artistic precision, transforming the fleeting movement of charged particles into lasting visual compositions.
