February is one of the best months. The mountains are usually covered in fresh snow, the Arctic light is soft and dramatic, and the nights are still dark enough to give excellent opportunities to photograph the Northern Lights.

Yes. The Lofoten Islands are one of the best places in Europe to shoot the aurora. Activity and clear skies can never be guaranteed, but whenever conditions are suitable we head out after dark to photograph the Northern Lights from beaches, fjords or viewpoints near our accommodation.

Yes. It suits enthusiastic beginners as well as more experienced photographers. You should know the basic controls of your camera, and we will help you with composition, settings, focusing, exposure, filters and field workflow throughout the tour.

The tour is designed to be physically accessible: most locations are close to the vehicle or require only short walks. You do not need to be an experienced hiker, but you should be comfortable walking on snow, ice, uneven ground and beaches in winter conditions.

A DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual mode, a sturdy tripod, spare batteries and memory cards. A wide-angle lens is ideal for aurora and seascapes, a standard zoom for general landscapes, and a telephoto for mountain details and compressed compositions. ND filters are useful too.

Yes, where local rules, weather and safety allow. Both guides are experienced with drone photography and can help you create powerful aerial compositions. Keep in mind that cold winter conditions reduce battery capacity by roughly 20% compared to summer.

Accommodation is in modern Norwegian cabins in the heart of Lofoten, with private bathroom and kitchen. Standard rooms are double cabins with separate beds; single rooms are available for a $800 supplement (limited). Meals are not included: the cabins have kitchens for breakfast, and we stop at trusted local restaurants for lunches and dinners.

The tour begins with an airport pick-up in Northern Norway (Harstad / Narvik) and a first night near the airport. The next morning we drive about four hours to the Lofoten Islands. Detailed arrival instructions are provided after booking.

Winter weather in Lofoten changes quickly, which is exactly why the itinerary is flexible. We adjust the daily plan according to light, wind, snowfall, cloud cover, road conditions and aurora activity, always aiming to be in the best possible location for the conditions we have.
